This is the 29th Annual Convention for IDAL. Pierre Finkelstein is offering 2 hands-on classes and one demonstration at the event. Registration begins in August.
$325 --- One day -- Production faux marble & stone -- hands-on -- Pierre Finkelstein will show you how to create quick, realistic faux marble and stone that will impress your clients and make you money. Students will learn up to 8 finishes on baseboard-sized samples. Basic veining, breching, and stone textures will be the core lessons along with proper preparation and varnishing instructions. Some finishes will include: white carerra marble, sea green, red griotte, yellow flower, travertine, and granite. Learn how to match an existing marble/stone mantle or millwork. These are bread and butter finishes that every client will love to see in your portfolio.
$325 --- One day -- Production woodgrain and wood glazing -- hands-on -- Pierre Finkelstein will show you how to create quick, realistic woodgraining and "wood glazing" that will impress your clients and make you money. Students will learn up to 6 finishes on baseboard-sized samples. Basic flogging, graining, and glazing will be the core lessons along with proper preparation and varnishing instructions. Some finishes will include: Walnut, mahogany, burl, pine, and other wood tonalities. Learn how to match an existing wood door or millwork. These are bread and butter finishes that every client will love to see in your portfolio. Learn how to sell your client on the benefits of adding faux wood to millwork and doors.
$85---- Half day --- Problem solving with acrylic touch-up --- demonstration -- A big part of being a professional decorative painter is camouflaging damage with paint. Whether it's your finish that needs a touch-up or another substrate such as real marble, wood, or stone, your client will appreciate your "magical abilities" to make a ugly mark disappear. Pierre Finkelstein will show you all the tricks of the trade to make the toughest spots disappear. Topics discussed will include: filling cracks, surgical repairs, matching colors, using solvents to clean areas, proper adhesion, matching a sheen, and painting electrical plates to match any finish. Bring your toughest problem, and Pierre will demonstrate his solutions based on his 30 years of experience.
